Talkr is back online. I’ve commited an update to the sds_talkr plugin to work around some changes on the talkr site.

“Listen to this article” links weren’t working. It seems that www.talkr.com is down. I’ve notified their tech support team. The “listen” links will be re-enabled when Talkr comes back online.

It’s now in the codex. Version 2 adds an option to disable the Talkr link in a feed. I’m working on 2.1, that will allow the link to be turned on or off on a post/page by post/page basis, with a choosable default.

Version 1.0 of the Talkr plugin is now available. I will be uploading it to the WordPress codex shortly.

Talkr is a service that converts blog entries into mp3 files and allows bloggers to syndicate them through a talkr feed. In addition, it can be used as a link on a blog entry to allow the entry to be read aloud. Click the “Listen to this post” link below for a demonstration.

There was a talkr plugin for Wordpress, but it seems to have vanished. Thus, here’s my first attempt at writing a Wordpress plug-in, sds_talkr (download. ).
